Registered massage therapy

Registered massage therapy uses a variety of techniques to promote health and well-being, reduce pain, improve circulation, increase relaxation and expedite healing. This is accomplished through addressing the soft tissues of the body - muscles, ligaments, tendons, connective tissue and joint capsules. Feel your worries melt away as your therapist kneads your knots and calms your nerves. Time stands still as your mind and body releases tension and stress. Your mind and body will thank you!

pregnancy massage

Pregnancy massage focuses on the special needs of the new mother or mother-to-be as her body goes through many changes during the childbirth experience. This type of massage relieves many of the normal discomforts during pregnancy, such as muscle cramping, stiffness, tension, and knots. It also eases backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, edema, and sore, swollen ankles and feet. Positioning during this treatment will depend on the stage of development of the baby - and sometimes a pregnancy cushion is used to keep mom comfortable and baby safe.

Pre-pregnancy

Prepare your body for the upcoming pregnancy by addressing musculo-skeletal conditions, such as lower back pain, sport injuries, or joint inflammation. These conditions, if not taken care of ahead of time, can cause more stress on your body during pregnancy.

First trimester

Enjoy a full body, relaxation massage with special attention to your head, neck and scalp. This treatment helps to manage anxiety as well as muscular tension in your neck and shoulders. Breathing techniques as well as gentle exercises are recommended to strengthen and stabilize your lower back and abdominal core.

Second trimester

Growing breasts, expanding abdominal and pelvic areas place increasing stress on your back, legs and shoulders, and ligaments become loose increasing the likelihood of injury. These treatments are designed to reduce aches and pains, while specific recommended exercises stabilize your body.

Third trimester

Sleep is often disturbed, you may feel anxious about the upcoming birth, muscles are tired and joints are often swollen and tender. Treatments are focused on reducing muscular and joint discomfort, and alleviating stress. As your delivery date gets closer, relaxation massage becomes the priority.

Post partum

Specific massage techniques are used to help your muscles and joints make a quick recovery. Relaxation massage reduces anxiety while other techniques are used to relax tense abdominal, lower back, hips and pelvic muscles. We also begin treating caesarean section scars. Pamper your self as you mother your baby.

hot stone massage

Stones are heated in water and soothing essential oils, then applied on key points on the body (the chakra energy centres) to induce deep relaxation and relieve tension. The stones are then used to massage the body combining deep heat, Swedish massage and energy work, allowing you to enter a deep state of relaxation. This treatment is particularly useful for:

  • Improving the lymphatic system.
  • Relieving such ailments as muscle fatigue, aches, pain and tension.
  • Relieving stress, anxiety, insomnia and depression.
  • Relieving arthritic pain and is especially helpful for injury treatment when manual deep tissue work may not be desirable.
